Japan's Pro-Natal Policy:
In 1972, Japan was experiencing total fertility rates that were very far under the replacement rate of 2.1. So, the government implemented a child allowance policy that would provide families with a monthly influx of 3,000 yen if they gave birth to a third child. This policy has greatly changed over the last 50 years, and now gives parents much more money per child. For each child under 3, the family receives 10,000 yen ($67) per month, and the family receives 13,000 yen ($87) per month for each child over the age of 3 until the time they turn 16. As well as this, there is also a 420,000 yen ($2,800) bonus that is payed to the parents when they give birth to a child. This Japanese government sets aside 3.5 trillion yen ($23.4 billion) annually for these policies. However, it has not had a significant on population growth or total fertility rate.

Ecuador Population Pyramid
Four Level Analysis
Level 1: Ecuador population pyramid, 2023, Age vs. Population, Blue represents male population, Pink represents female population. The population is measure by thousands of people. Age is grouped by 5 years.
Level 2: There is almost symmetry across the middle of the pyramid. But the female side has slightly more population over older age groups (80-100). And the male side has more population in the middle age range (20-30). There is a pretty linear pyramid starting from 25-29 all the way up for both males and females. From below the 20-24 age group, the population decreases. Level 3: The greater population at the 20-24 age range can be explained because of migrants. Lots of Venezuelan people have been immigrating to Ecuador because the Venezuelan economy is very bad. And the most common age of migration is middle aged people. The high levels of older people has been increasing because of better healthcare and living conditions. Ecuador has not implemented a population policy. And the total fertility rate is 2.05, which is under the replacement rate of 2.1, which explains the slight gradual decrease of younger population. Level 4: This immigration from Venezuela will have an effect into the future. Since there are more people in the middle age groups now. That higher section will remain for a while. Which will eventually result in a high elder dependency ratio. And, because the total fertility rate is slightly below replacement, there will eventually be less younger people. And when they grow older, there will be a high elder dependency ratio. |
